Thank you Thomas

Santa came early today, recieved my new Evo 1 springs, supposed to be 3cm shorter then the one i had,

Also recieved my 3.46 diff, been looking for one for ages, but finally found one.

And i also got my 6-point harness, front and rear Ferodo DS2500, and Mocal remote oil filter head.

New black springs and old red ones, same spec but the black ones are for the Evo
and should be 3 cm shorter

been spending the weekend in the garage, and made some good progress i must say. First disappointment was the rear diff, i probably got an early 3.46 diff cause the crown wheel is too big to
fit inside my 16v housing, need to investigate this further.

Fitted my rear diff conversion from Elbe Engineering, aprox 75% constant lock-up. Easy to fit, huge improvement from the ASD.

Replaced my old Nürburgring springs with the Evo specific i got from H&R Motorsport department, these are shorter but are just as stiff 320/220 nm/mm. Will eliminate the huge arch gap. Bit concerned how low the sump will sit, especially as we have lowered engine further down the DTM engine mounts.

Dissembled rear 3.46 diff, supposed to be from a w124, crown wheels has 126 no stamped.

Elbe Diff conversion,

Replacing springs, again. hopefully for the last time

Rear springs, , left are 16v motorsport springs and to the right the Evo motorsport springs.

Getting closer, most of the parts have been installed now
Bild

Rear calipers with new Goodridge hoses, and restored caliperrs.
Bild

Ferodo DS2500 pads, as you can see it doesent sit right, it needs to be modified so
it doesnt foul the rotor. These pads are originally for a Alfa Romes, and some early Porsche
911 but can be modified to fit our w201. Need to grind of a few mm, the in will slip
right in.

Modified, this is the parts that spins the hydralic pump, buit it needs to
be removed to fit the DTM style blanking plate

Blanking plug for the outlet on the side of the valve cover, from ATEC:

And finally, valve cover back on!

That it for today, next weekend we are going to the Essen Motor Show, so no more updates for a while.

I talked with Herr Walter Wirtz at H&R, but i bought it from Sandtler.de, talk to Herr Jörg Erftmeier, he is very helpfull Joerg.Erftemeier@sandtler.de

You need to specify that you need it for an evo, because is the same article number as for ordinary 16v .

I have bought two kits from Sandtler now and im very pleased with them

Spent a few hours in the garage replacing the clutch slave cylinder. Noticed that the rubber seal was broken, its a good idea
to check this seal, especially when you have converted to manual, chances are that the slave cylinder has been emptied and
you will have rust inside and broken seals. Got a new one, but there are repair kits available..

New and old

Should have replaced it before i put the gearbox back in.

Thanks guys, manage to get some thing done today too. Had some hoses made up for the new oil cooler and filter setup.
I choose not to use your typical braided hose with fancy fittings, instead i went to company called Hydroscand, they
specialize in hoses for industrial applications. Its cheaper and i prefer the look of these.

They also had this rather suspicious looking box outside their office...
Bild

New hoses,
Bild

These are fittings for the vacuum system, we need it for MAP and
other vacuum controlled system like the central looking, we also
need a larger take off for the brake booster.
Bild

New original Merc jubilee clips.
Bild

I also trial fitted hoses, cooler and reservoirs, just to get the feel of it,
we are getting closer to the finish now. Just need to get that dreaded
Evo 1 kit sorted, so tired of it.
