Mercedes W201 190E 16V EVO

Hello Everyone,

First of all i´d like to say hi to everyone, i´ve been around for a while as a silent member, congratulations to a great forum and a great source of info about the 16v..

below are some pics of my 190E 2.3-16, it´s from 1987 with only 2 previous owners, fully documented with only 109.000 km...

Thanks for the welcome and the kind words about the car.

The car will remain in it´s original condition except from some very small modifications that cannot be seen, it has brake calipers from 300e-24v and discs from 400e, a performance exhaust with race cat and of course the 17 inch wheels (DB model Sador) an engine upgrade is also planned, but only to install other pistons so that i will get the 185hp since mine is the 170hp version...nothing else will be changed....

The other car in the garage is a 190E 1.8, my every day car...

By the way, feel free to write in german, i can understand it nicely but unfortunately i cannot write it, i spend a lot of time in Köln, since i work as a pilot for UPS

What a nice car. Greetings from far away Manila. Yes the 16V is alive in our country too. There must be at least ten in Manila. Can you tell me if there is anything to watch out when upgrading the brakes? Does one just buy these calipers and it will fit just like that?

after some long time i decided to transform my boring everyday 190E 1.8 from -93 with 275000 km´s on the clock to something more fun, here are some pics from the transformation into a 16V

This is what it used to look like:




Car emptied of everything and all parts painted inside and out



The new (rebuilt) engine



Slightly modified flywheel, weight 5,72 kg´s



Here you can se the difference between original and modified..



Brand new gearbox ...



All ready for the engine ...

LSD from a -85 16v, rebuilt and slightly modified



Front calipers and discs from a E500 -94



Rear calipers and ventilated discs from a 500e




New exhaust, custom made ...



Battery moved to the rear



Interior cleaned and wood trim painted in the same colour as the car, driver seat is a Sparco EVO (not mounted on the picture)



Almost done, note the old type of windshield wiper



All done ...

Wow, new engine, new gearbox and everything so clean... that car kicks-ass, nearly a shame to drive.

The 2.3-16V engine is a new one - rebuild or a used one?
