In december of 2008 I took the train all the way up north to a place called Warmenhuizen, saw it was in relatively good order for the price (transferbox was shot but my savings at that point would cover for getting it overhauled) and drove it back home. It hauled some serious *ss I tell you!
Replaced a few minor small things like the 3rd brake light in the Irmscher spoiler, had the transferbox overhauled and a new clutch fitted, new drivebelt and waterpump, new tires all around, heard an aweful loud BANG when driving away from work one day (still dont know the cause but boost started to slowly go down to 0.5 bar and never went over that since), car got vandalised in the night of februari 5th 2010 with a shattered rear window, some dents and scratches so that made me pull the restoration plans forward.
Underneath is the progress since I got busy, first up was installing a Greddy turbotimer and two STRI gauges for boost and oil pressure behind an OEM front.

This is the mess you encounter when a previous owner botches the wiring at the steering column, tried to make the most of it but still doesn't look quite right.

Handbrake wire for the turbotimer

Decided to get a compression test done, this was the resulting graph

Decided to get a crack on the gauges and front and called the dealership for availability of a new front... please be so kind to give us €49,85 plus tax Sir.. COME AGAIN

Test fitting

Peekaboo!

Thank God it fits!

The Final result, am quite proud of my handywork

With apologies for the Nokia quality, gauges have since been exchanged for white LED ones.
First result of giving it a wash with Autoglym shampoo, wax and glasspolish, removed the stupid decals on the doors and removed the rear license plate thingamabob.

Upon getting the car we were worn, faded and light grey, now we look nice and almost brand new.

Another interior shot

With plate thingy

Without, looks way better.
