Exhaust manifolds and heatshield

Beitragvon olie92 » 15. Mär 2015, 14:44

Hi all,

Sorry for asking questions in english, hope you all do not mind.

1. As per pics attached, you could see that the aluminum heatshield behind exhaust manifolds is not looking that nice and plan to replace it. Would the original part still be available for sale? Where to buy one? Or would an aftermarket aluminum heatshield be ok? Any recommended brand?
2. I plan to ceramic coat the exhaust manifold to gain a bit of power and keep the heat down inside the engine bay. Anyone has had any experience with ceramic coating? Good and worth long term investment?

Many thanks!

Hi Olie,

on the German version (LHD ) there is no aluminum heat shield at this point.
I do not know if this part is still available.
Perhaps someone else on the forum say more, or has a part number.

Cheers,

Hi Olie,
since i have also a RHD - and i am rebuidling my car i also redid the heatshield. You can find pics of it in my thread.
What i would suggest is sandblast the heatshield and ceramic coat it and the manifold by yourself.
VHT has a ceramic paint which works really good from what i read. That's also what i"ll do with my manifold.
About gaining some power with ceramic coating - this won't be the case.
I hope i could help.

Bye

Many thanks Frank and Maki. I just realizes about no heatshield on LHD car...thanks again. Maki, will check your build and might ask some questions, hope you do not mind.
