Kurbelwelle/Crankshaft der 16Ventiler

Hello all,

I am new in your great forum. I live in Finland and here this 2.5-16 scene is relatively small. I write in English but can understand some German, so feel free to answer in German.

I put my first message here because i was so excited in these pictures about rods. I wonder, if anyone have specs or pictures of crankshaft? Of course everyone knows that I am thinking to built extra engine. Original crankshaft is aveilable but price is relatively high, 4530€, just for looking :) .

I am sure someone already ask rods from Pankl, also wonder if crank is made by Mercedes or also Pankl?

Looks like an Atec one - or are there more companies distributing crankshafts?
Don't have any specs about them.

Hi Ile and welcome to 16v Forum,

Crankshaft is made by Mercedes not Pankl, it has the same shape as 2.5-16v crankshaft with 4 counterweights (evo1 and 2.3 16 have 8 counterweights) but stroke is shorter comparing to standard 2.5-16.

Details are to be found in this book: Einführungsschrift Evo II and we can provide that page showing crankshaft is no problem. It is forged like every Mercedes crankshaft and rod area is additionaly hardened as for every 16v compared to standard 190Es. Maybe you can find a company to produce it, Brabus used to produce their cranks somewhere in England some of us will have also interest in buying those for a better price than 4xxx Euros. :für_die_mama:

Hello all,

and thank you for all information what you can give me in advance. This is original crank from DB. I need also one rod(made by Pankl) just for inspect the thing and as an example, if anyone can sell me or just borrow, would be exellent. Pistons should not be a problem and i have them. Even if it is not possible to have rods from Pankl i need one to make exact same I-profile rods. Dont want to open the engine for that purpose.

Nikola: there is two distributors in England, price about 3500€, so that is not option.

Also you can use Volvo H-type Conrods as Michael from Sweden did Volvo B230 Turbo H-Conrods they are very similar to Pankl rods but costs only a fraction the price.

Also what I know that SAAB B203 Turbo Engine has Crankshaft very similar in dimensions to Evo Crankshaft as one guy from that scene used Evo1 Crankshaft later on in his SAAB engine. And SAAB is not expensive either. :biggrin:

Yes, there is several options and producers for conrods, just want to copy original also visually. I think one value is, that if i say this is like 102.992 engine with all parts. All parts is then produced for that engine. Or what people think? In my opinion someone like me in the future might want to buy "original look a like" 992 engine? My friend here in Finland make very powerfull Volvo evo engines and he also suggested that we should use Volvo evo parts that is an other story to built outlaw racing engine than 992. Bore can be 97 but stroke have to be mabe also near 100 then can use parts whatever suits best for that purpose.

this start to be oftopic from what Fränk made this topic to be, what would be the right thread?

The best option would be that one of the mods cuts the posts off and moves them into a new thread. ;)

Sounds all interesting. Stroke of 100 mm? That's a lot for our "high reving" engines. :shock:

Ein TIP von mir :write

MB hat alles in Database braucht man nicht Teile zu wiegen:

1. Teilenummer aus EPC rausfinden
2. Ins Preisliste hinzufügen (auch Internet Teilehändler geben oft das Gewicht neben dem Preis wenn man sucht)
3. Man weiß Gewicht in Gramm genau.

Morgen kann Ich 100% genau sagen aber ungefähr:

Kurbelwelle Evo1 A1020301301 kg 18,900
Kurbelwelle Evo2 A1020301401 kg ........

(Daten aus Internet, ohne Gewähr, Morgen kann Ich genau teilen weil im Garage habe Ich EPC Preislist aus 190er Zeiten und alle Teile sind in Gramm genau gelistet was ist sehr interessant wenn man baut andere Bremsen, Felgen usw. ein) :lesen:

Das genaue Gewicht der Evo II Kurbelwelle beträgt 16,7 kg ± 3%

Hi Folks!

Hat jemand ein Foto einer originalen 2,5-16 Kurbelwelle ?
Und kann mir etwas dazu sagen, welche Nummern da drauf stehen sollten?
Ich glaube eine Teilenummer werde ich da nicht drauf finden. :lesen:
