Danka...I understand now. Currently on the car i have Evolution 1 wheels on the car (16 inches) if i go back to original 15 inches wheels will i get improved performance?
So this figure of 142.8kw is it a good figure for an un modified engine?

The engines are sold with 143 kW, so, from the power-side, it's like a new one - if we are on the point that the measure was okay (what we do, to make it easier).

Your cars power at the wheels will increase a bit, but the "power loss" will be lower and together you should have the same "measured" result.

In fact: Heavyer/bigger wheels will cost you power and topspeed, but the Engine will have the same power, it just get lost (But a dyno also measures the lost power and adds it to the measured enginepower). ;)

Hi Nagi,

Thankyou for the reply. If i'm correct my car came with 150kw/204bhp from the factory. It is a NON Cat version car.
So perhaps the figure of 148.2kw is correct?

:-D Well... in that case your engine has lost a bit of it's power. Nothing serious, that happens to every engine, some loose more, some less.

As I already told you: That's what they measuered, but if I measure my car at -5 °C and with a high preasure of, let's say 1070 mbar - it will gain some Hands of additional power - especially if I have an intercooler (but even without!). Lower airtemperature and higher airpressure results in more power, because your engine has more oxygen to be burned and that's just cheating and not what makes your engine comparable.
My car also was a cat-less version.

The compression across the 4 cylinders is 11.1 bar.
I think this is a bit too low. It should be between 12 - 14 bar. If i am able to increase the compression will i see an increase in hp and torque?

AFAIK you will. ;)
But that will need you to disassemble your engine. Normally you will have to renew the pison rings and grind the valves in.
For exact informations about that, you should consult your favorite engine-man. ;)

If your engine is okay and the milage is not too high, just let it run. Most 2.5 Engines need a rebuild between 200 and 300.000 km, depends on how they were used - it tends more to 200 than to 300.000 km. Keep an eye on your timingchain.

Bitte. ;)

Engine was rebuilt by Team Stadler. On the rebuilt engine i have done 4,000 km. Piston rings were new.

Other ppl. may correct me, IMHO is 11 Bar a bit low for a rebuild engine which has just done 4.000 km.
Of course are piston rings new if the engine is rebuild. Your valves should also have been grinded in asf.

I know, thats what i thought. 11 bar is quite low. it should be higher than this especially on a rebuilt engine.
Will i notice an improvement in performance if the pressure is 12 bar or more?

Did you check the readings of the compression meter?
The engine should be warm when the compression test is done and the throttle should be fully opened.

Christian

Just to be clear my friends Team Stadler did not rebuild the engine...My mistake. They took it apart and rectified the mistakes of the original rebuild.

Could you give us some more details?
