Mercedes W201 190E 16V EVO

It is hot here and air conditioning is a necessity.

The Merc system is fine and maintains comfort. But on the few highways where we can really run the car at speed the Klima relay goes kuput. Cruising at ~160-180kph is fine, but higher speeds (230-240kph) kill the relay after 2 or 3 minutes.

Luckily we have many 4cly 201/124's here. Many have been junked so used Klima relays are easy to find and cheap but I would like to determine: 1) if this is a common problem and 2) if there is a solution (other than turning off the air conditioner above 200kph).

Ich hab gerade nichts zu tun, also versuch ich mich mal..

Es ist heiß hier und eine Klimatisierung ist bei uns eine Notwendigkeit.

Das Merc System ist gut und erhält den Komfort. Jedoch auf den wenigen Highways die wir hier haben, auf welchen man das Fahrzeug wirklich ausreizen kann, geht das Klima-Relais ständig kaputt. Beim fahren mit Tempo 160 bis 180km/h gibt es kein Problem, doch bei schnelleren Geschwindigkeiten (230 bis 240) ist das Relais nach 2 bis 3 Minuten kaputt.

Glücklicherweise gibt es hier viele 4Zyl w201/w124. Einige davon wurde bereits geschlachte, somit ist es einfach und günstig ein gebrauchtes Klimarelais zu bekommen. Aber ich würde dennoch gerne wissen: 1) ob es ein übiches Problem ist und 2) ob es eine Lösung hierfür gibt (Außer die Klima bei 200kmh abzustellen)

ist eigentlich kein uebliches problem.
hats vielleicht mit einer fehlfunktion der kompressorkupplung zu tun oder mit einem problem von ueberspannung?
was wurde bereits geprueft?

Yes, I refer to the large black KLIMA relay near the battery. If I am not mistaken there is a speed sensor on the rear of the compressor. Is this an "over-speed" sensor that signals the compressor clutch to dis-engage above a set high RPM's? If this is true is there a procedure to test the speed sensor for correct operation?

Ja, ich meine das große schwarze KLIMA Relais bei der Batterie. Wenn ich mich nicht irre, gibt es einen Geschwindigkeitsgeber hinten am Kompressor. Ist das ein "Über-Drehzahl"-Sensor der der Kupplung ab einer festgesetzten Drehzahl das Signal zum Trennen gibt? Wenn das zutreffen sollte, wie teste ich diesen Geber auf richtige Funktion?

sorry but I can't help you, my 16V has no Klima at all, I have to open the windows when it's getting too hot. Even at 200km/h
