Mercedes W201 190E 16V EVO

Hello you all.

I found this nice engine
Its a Lehrmodel from Mercedes for mechanics to learn and work on those engines by daimler. After that period its been given to a school for mechanics and there it was standing for 20 years.
They engine has only been started 1 or 2 times from what i can see on the spark plugs and stuff. Also it collected some dust on the rubers, but from what i can see its all "Wie Neu" or better Neu
So its almost brand new, not even build into a car It also has the original gearbox!
I dont know if iam keeping it as a spare or to sell it.... Because now i finaly have a almost new engine, and how big is the change i will be find this one again....
here are some pictures! If some people here can tell more about the Lehrmodel engines it would be great.

du solltest ggf. mal ein paar Teilenummern vom Block und Kopf posten...
Sicherlich kann man dann mehr über den "inneren" Aufbau des Motors sagen...
Welcher Glücksgriff wäre ein echter ECE mit neuem Getriebe? Ich denke das wäre ein 6er im Lotto...

Die Leerlaufluftverteilung ist die "neuere" Ausführung, das ist schon mal ein Hinweis.

Der Thermostatkasten hat den Temperaturschalter für das Regenerierventil des Aktivkohlefilters (Foto acht und neun) und auf dem dritten Foto sieht man sogar das Ventil vor dem Öldruckschalter liegen (im eingebauten Zustand ist das Unterdruckgebamsel auf dem linken Radkasten vertäut).

I got a 185ps into my car myself and the Leerlaufsteller is different, but i saw 2 cars in Holland which had this leerlaufsteller and that where also 185 versions!?

If some of you need pictures from anything , i can make them now!

The engine only has been started 1 or 3 times maybe from what i can see. The engine is moving and has compression from what i can see and feel.

Die 170 und 177 PS Variante haben den gleichen Motor, sie unterscheiden sich nur in der Auspuffanlage und den Abgleichssteckern.
Das ist equivalent zum 194/204 PS 2.5er Motor, lediglich der 185 PS ECE hat eine höhere Verdichtung und wohl auch etwas andere Kennfelder.

that is possible.
Both the idle air controller with three pins and adjusting screw / the old idle air piping are unique to the ECE engine, every engine with these components for sure is an ECE. But some of the last ECEs got the newer IAC / piping and are still an ECE.
As I said, the new piping is an indication, not a proof.
It's the same with the newer, two rowed thermostat housing, it's an indication of RÜF/KAT - but was used in the last ECEs as well.

The valve and vacuum piping for the charcoal filter is unique to RÜF/KAT versions, ECEs didn't have this at all, so that's the differentiator.

Check the engine number, the RÜF/KAT enginges have the compression ratio 9.7 driven into the block while ECEs are blank.

Here is a picture of the engine number... that number i cant find anywhere... i was looking for it, because 10.5 is for the ECE versions i know.
Your correct about the idle lines. A friend of mine got a 1986 ECE version with the new lines, and our from 1984 and early 1985 still have the old version

Its a 170hp version i found out
