2.3-16 from Italy

hi Guys,

just joined the forum and also waiting for application to community, may be one day we can meet at annual event in Hockenheim.
My car is a 2.3-16 she is in Italy where I'm not so any time I have possibility I plan something and fly to make some improvement, I've done a lot, mainly to keep her in the best shape. I replaced a lot of parts not because of real issues but simply because I want all fresh and new...where possible.

Sometimes you realize it was better the 30 years old part you just removed than the new and ambiguous component you have in hands

This is an ECE car but in 1992 first owner replaced the engine and gearbox in Mercedes, I've the invoce, question is if the new engine is still an ECE, engine number is 102983 10 017749

I had a long chat and discussion with Johannes, to understand which engine I have, because seems not clear, so he sent me immediately to run the car on the power bank but he's not happy so I've to continue with endoscopy inspection of the pistons...I've to do next time.

Meanwhile power bank shown interesting figures with 183 HP and 25Kgm of torque.

About the figures of 16V in Italy unfortunately I don’t have any info as there is no community like this what I can comment, is that also normal w201 are very rare to see circulate and very few well kept.
If you limit this to 16v cars I can just imagine there are but if I exclude cars in advertisements like Autoscout 24 I haven’t seen a single one since years here around.
My uncle bought in 1984-85 a 2.0E manual ordered in Germany with some super nice aesthetic kit lowered with Bilstein and BBS, it has sunroof but no electric windows and yes he paid to have the 5th gear it was amazing that time.
About mine between others jobs, instead to rebuilt the friction disk of the LSD I installed a wavetrack differential, it works better that factory LSD, in my opinion at least, have you any car and experience with wavetrack in this community?

The original steering wheel is re trimmed and I prefer the original look but first 16 had it 400mm quite big… if it where 390 at least. So I installed this Ative with AMG logo was already put …

I have a question: were you guys able to give me some indication to put the missing rubber boots on the rear SLS strut cylinders? System works I don’t want to buy new impossible to find hydraulic cylinders.
Is there something that can be put around without dismounting?

Yes exhaust is stainless steel after the manifold.
