Attack angles of the primarys into the turbine became very very shallow....really more so than i anticipated.
Could say that i´m happy with it as it by turbo standards will improve flow...in a major way.
We even got the angle between the primarys and the entry of the turbine on the money,and a fair guestemate for the former angle is less than 10deg-which has to be considered almost fantastic.

Today...i spent a number of hours seamwelding the pipe with root gas...and i´m friggin spent!! MUCH more work than the novice would ever imagine...
None the less,it leaves us with the "fun" parts to be done now.
Placement of WG...to be at least somewhat correct from a flow point of view,install of weldbungs for exhaust backpressure and exhaust gas temperature.
Both of which will be logged by the VEMS.

Speaking of wastegate...


WG diameter is of concern as the exhausts need to make a fairly steep turn around the valve,and what´s more turn approx 90deg to get out of the wastegate.
Piping leading up to it tho...doesn´t need to be of 65mm by a long shot from a flow perspective,and it would only become more cumbersome to place the unit.
We came up with the idea of installing a cone...and this is the result.
Turned out pretty good to if you ask me,and this way we can have the cake and eat it too.

Oilpressure for the turbo will affect spool.
I normaly see to this by the install of a simple reducer,but this time i want to be 100% in control of pressure as well as residual pressure for the turbo.
So..we came up with this installed at the back of the head.



..and of course AN4 at the other end..

OEM waterpump is out as the huffer is as big as it is.
Ergo,i turned some bungs in the lathe,added a 90deg bend and hit it all with the TIG..however..design wise..it came to look "so so"...
So,i´m giving some thought to cutting it all up to reroute the pipe the other side of the turbo cold side.For better estetics only.

As you can see i turned myself one of them ULTRA fast SLS delete plugs while at it...interferance fit by 15/100mm..and i guess we´ll toss that in the anodizer bath while at it when the time comes.


Oilpressure outlet for the huffer.Steel and aluminium as that won´t gall over time.



..and my mantra with turbo anything...crankcase vents.Vents out the fabled even...
So,in unison with the ones in the valve cover..this one it something it put together for the OEM fuelpump boss of the block.Again AN12.

We´ve been discussin a roll cage for the new car,and have our hearts set on using aluminium.
We´ve figured most of it out i believe,but some questions remain.
Main one really being if it would be of use to make the cage able to "preload" over uniballs?

But...guess we´ll figure that one out down the road as well.

Could say that the waterpump setup came to look about a ton better after some aditional work.



Didn´t take any pic of it,but the tubing leading from that outlet there to the heater in the car was fabricated out of aluminium as well.
Complete with bracket to be bolted to the rearmost bung in the cylinder head.
Came out fairly nice..

With that said.
Idea is for a so called cobraneck at the turboinlet to redirec the incoming air 90deg.
Said n done...200mm worth of aluminium bar stock went into the lathe.

After a little while...had to break for the day...we were about half ways.





Idea here is to fab an airhorn of full radii for the turbo inlet.
Then i´ll fab a "hat" that fits over it.
The airhorn fits outside of the compressor inlet of 140mm,and when installed i´m going to weld it in place.
Then..with the "hat" in place i´ll reroute the airbox to a 150mm weldbung that will be at 90deg towards the inlet of the turbo.
Thing is that the 201 chassis doesn´t have the longest engine bay in existance,and this way i´ll lead the incoming air via a reinforced hose to the filter itself that i hope to be able to place in the right hand fender-in front of the wheel,in a fabbed box.

Full radii..lightened as much as poss,and with a 7mm wide prong at the rear to fasten the "hat" we intend to fit to redirect the airstream 90deg.

Mere size puts things into perspective,and it´s almost a shame to hide the intake stack underneath a hat now that it´s done...but..

When you have trap speeds inxs of 240km/h at a dragstrip a parachute in mandatory.
Now..as you package that unit...there´s a small red "tail" hanging out that says;
"Remove before flight".

While Kim was to visit today i fabbed a bracket for an additional Hall effects trigger in case we go distributorless.
As can be seen instead of the fabled SLS pump.
Simply turned the end of the camgear with the driveyoke down and installed a small ferrous screw offset...and fabbed the bracket in the picture.
Point being that with the "home signal" trigger the ECU will know which crank revolution it is at.


Bracket turned out slim enough...but have second thoughts as to if it´ll stick together at 11 000rpms..
Giving some thought to redesigning the bracket itself...i´ll have to sleep on it i guess.

Sealing is by an O-ring at the Hall sensor base.
